Conversations With Friends

We undertake several community focused special projects that are focused on promoting death literacy in community along with bringing acceptance and support of grief into the public sphere and celebrating our elders.

In 2022, Dr Linda Kurti, of Stillpoint Strategy and Harpreet Kalsi-Smith our founder, embarked on a proactive pilot project called ‘Conversation with Friends’, which demonstrated a hunger among the general population to normalise discussions about the end of life, even though these discussions can be difficult. Linda and Harpreet facilitated dialogues about death and dying with groups of people known to each other, usually over a meal. As a result of these discussions, many participants had conversations with their families about their end-of-life wishes; some developed advance care plans. We believe this model has the potential to assist many others to engage in important discussions about the end of life, before they are facing a life-limiting illness. Linda and Harpreet presented the findings of this pilot project at the 2022 NSW Palliative Care Biennial Conference titled ‘Looking for what you know is lost: Conversations on suffering.’

Linda and Harpreet are currently embarking on Phase two of the
pilot project.

Collective Grieving

Harpreet is collaborating with Dr Joanne Doran to create public and community arts spaces to normalise grief and acknowledge the collective grief so many of us experience.

Eldership In Our Communities

We at Kindness Company are working with regional and peak bodies to acknowledge the wisdom and expertise of Elders in our communities and support them and their communities in their ageing and end-of-life journeys.

Carers and family members can be empowered to make effective choices while a loved one is unwell, dying, after death and as part of funeral rites to lay the foundation for healthy grieving outcomes. We understand many of our clients carry high burdens of stress and are often burnt out. To assist with recovery, we can provide a series of healing and deep rest sessions where we work with you to identify the purpose and intention of the session.
